Sheng Yi is a Malaysian-Australian visual artist based in Melbourne. She works with various traditional painting media, such as gouache and watercolour, to bring her artworks to life. More recently Sheng Yi has also begun to express her ideas with clay. She operates from her home studio in Richmond.
Through a now distinctly recognisable collection, ‘Life According to George’ explores the playful and pensive landscape of Sheng’s thoughts, with George the duck as her alter ego. This ongoing body of work allows Sheng Yi to examine her personal philosophies, cultural background and identity.
