ABOUT THE DUCK

The Duck was created specially to assist in a baby’s early sensory development through exploration and play. Thoughtfully designed and handmade to be an all in one toy, The Duck helps little hands, eyes, ears, mouths and minds grow from day one.

Fun and functional, The Duck makes the perfect baby shower gift for all new babies and parents.

EYES, hands, EARS, MOUTHS + MINDS

EYES

From birth to approximately 6 weeks, babies can only see around 20cm in front of them. Their developing eyes can more easily identify black and white, strong contrasting colours, and geometric shapes. The bold lines of The Duck’s face, and the colourful fabrics used to make each Duck, are easily seen by young eyes as they learn to focus.

HANDS

From around 3 - 4 months, while they are still working on coordinating opening and closing their fists at the right time to grab.
The wings on The Duck are specially designed to be large enough for small hands to grab and hold. And the soft fabric underneath, and the crinkle inside, encourages them to explore the different textures.

ears

When babies are around 3 month old they begin to perfect following objects around. This is also known as ‘tracking’. The Duck has a jingle bell inside that provides an auditory element which helps with this important activity. Helping their eyes learn to focus and begin to work as a team!

MOUTHS

Babies will typically cut their first tooth around 6 months. But teething pain can start as early as 3 - 4 months old, and last until they get their final molars at around 2. This process can be painful and babies will look for relief by chewing on anything they can get their little hands on. The textured bumps on The Duck’s feet help provide relief and are a safe, non-toxic option for teething babies.

MINDS

The most important part of a baby's development from day one is positive play time. All play is wonderful! Singing, chatting, introducing toys with different shapes and textures will help build strong minds. Incorporating The Duck into playtime allows you to bring learning and play together, building those crucial sensory skills while having fun and building strong relationships.
