The Handmade Christmas Market starts at 5pm TODAY! Our twilight market will go from 5 until 9pm, where you can enjoy a drink at the bar, shop for food, indulge in some dinner and then start on your Christmas shopping. And then tomorrow and Sunday, you can do it all again. The doors will be open at 10am each day, until 4pm. And you’ll have 16 hours of Christmas shopping under one roof this weekend.

Handmade is the place to find the perfect gift, whether for the men, women, children or animals in your life. And you can relax knowing they’ve been made here in Australia, and not mass-produced. Everything you need to know is on our Shop at the Market page, from our full directory of traders (all with stall numbers and a floorplan so you can find them easily) to the map of EPIC and directions. However, here is an overview of the basics.

Canberra’s Light Rail is a great way to arrive at EPIC. The EPIC and Racecourse stop is a short walk from the market. For timetables and exact locations of the stops, visit the Transport Canberra website HERE. Alternatively, you can visit the EPIC website for full details on public transport services.

The roads are clear of roadworks around EPIC and you can access it from all sides. There are three entry points – one from Flemington Road, one from Stirling Road (by the McDonalds) and the other from Old Well Station Road. You can find a map link HERE.

All you have to do is follow the instructions of the parking attendants, who will be waiting to help you. It’s then a short walk to our three halls – the Budawang Building, Conference Centre and Coorong Pavilion. We know it’s going to be busy so the EPIC team has laid on as many helpers as possible, but your patience would be much appreciated. Of course, there is disabled parking at the front of the Pavilions. And parking is FREE.

Once you have arrived and parked, you’ll want to see what’s going on, so here is a list of things we think you might need to know to help make your market experience easy.

The market is open on Friday 5pm – 9pm and then both Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 4pm.

Most of our designers and producers have eftpos facilities to take payment. However, there are smaller emerging designers that may not, so we recommend you bring along some cash. There are three ATMs in the two halls, so you won’t be caught short.

Where do we start? Coffee, cold drinks, snacks, meals and sweet treats are all available in our gourmet food hall, the Coorong Pavilion, along with wine and other drinks. There is also coffee stall and some delicious sweet treats on offer in the Budawang Building. We hope we’ve catered for all tastes and dietary requirements, so please enjoy taking your pick.

If you have come to visit particular designers, or maybe you are on a strict time limit, there is a list/map of stalls between the halls. Or seek out our friendly Handmade staff at the reception desk. For a full directory listing by category, including stall locations, check out the DIRECTORY on the website. And you can pick up one of our useful market guides at the door or from reception with a handy list and map. You can also find a listing and some beautiful images in our online HANDMADE MAGAZINE, or to find out more about our amazing designers and producers, head to our BLOG for articles and interviews.

There are several toilets in each hall, with baby changing and a breastfeeding room available in the corridor adjacent to the Coorong Pavilion. Please ask at reception (between the halls) if you’re lost.

Entry to the Handmade Market is free. We do ask however, that you give a gold coin donation to our chosen charity as you walk in. The volunteers from Send Hope Not Flowers will be our door greeters this weekend. And we are hoping for food donations for the Oz Harvest and GIVIT food drive. If you can, please bring something from the following list: Christmas puddings, long life milk, long life custard, tea bags, instant coffee, pasta, rice, wholegrain cereal, canned fruit and veg, tuna, salmon, potato chips, biscuits (sweet and savoury). Drop off will be at the entrance of the conference centre. Thank you.

Don’t forget to BYO to the Christmas market. Our coffee vendors are always happy to put your brew into a keep cup, so have yours ready to go. We also have two water fillings stations, so you can have fresh water in your own bottles to save buying single-use plastic bottles. And to carry all that shopping, have your own shoppings bags at the ready. Don’t worry if you forget, as coffee mugs, keep cups, bags and bottles are on sale throughout the market – there are some beautiful stalls to choose from. Head to our directory to find them. And you can pick up a special Handmade bag to show off your purchases and reuse again and again. On sale at reception.

We hope you have a wonderful visit to Handmade, thank you for supporting Australian designers and wish you a safe and enjoyable weekend and happy holidays. Please share your experience at Handmade, using our hashtag #handmadecbr – we’d love to see your purchases!
