What’s On In CBR – 17 & 18 March 2018
WHAT’S ON IN CBR
March is one of the best times of the year to be in our beautiful capital city. There are almost too many events to put in your calendars, but here’s our rundown of the things you may want to do in Canberra next weekend.
THE HANDMADE MARKET
Of course! On Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th March, from 10am until 4pm both days, head to Exhibition Park for Canberra’s creative market. In the Budawang Building, Coorong Pavilion and the Conference Centre in between, there will be over 260 stallholders, displaying their gourmet foods, wines & spirits, on-trend homewares and fashion finds. Entry is free and parking is free, so come and browse, taste and shop Handmade.
From 2-18 March, Canberra’s iconic public buildings will be lit with innovative patterns that will make the city glow. Add to this the night noodle markets and a number of related events and you have a festival that will occupy your evening after your day at Handmade. All the details are on the Enlighten WEBSITE.
With the skies set to be clear, Canberra’s famous balloon festival will run from 10-18 March. Head to Old Parliament House early to watch dozens of balloons take off and fill the dawn air above the lake. Pilots start inflating at 6.15am. Head to the WEBSITE to find out more.
Still at the lake, the 30th annual Skyfire event will take place on Saturday 17th. Join 100,000 others and watch the fireworks, set to a great soundtrack. There is plenty of entertainment before the fireworks, which start at 8.30pm. Details can be found on the WEBSITE.
There’s is almost too much sport on in Canberra next weekend, with both forms of rugby taking centre stage at the GIO Stadium. Watch the BRUMBIES take on the Sharks on Saturday, or if NFL is your game, the RAIDERS will be playing the Newcastle Knights on Sunday.
ART NOT APART
On a gentler note, the Art Not Apart Festival will also be taking place on 17 March. Hosted in New Acton and at the Shine Dome and national Film and Sound Archives, there will be exhibitions, performance art, music, installations, and two afterparties. Head to the WEBSITE for details
