What You Need To Know
ACCESS & PARKING
This map should be useful for access. To sum up, if you’re coming from Gungahlin down Flemington Road, you can enter EPIC via Morisset Road or the main entrance of EPIC and follow the stewards towards the parking on the arena. If you’re coming from the city up Northbourne Avenue or from Sydney down the Federal Highway, don’t turn into Flemington Road as there’s no right turn into EPIC. Instead, enter via either Stirling Avenue (McDonalds entrance) or Old Well Station Road and then follow the stewards towards the parking on the arena. (Follow the signs for disabled parking close to the event or ask the stewards.) It’s then a short walk to our three halls, the Budawang Building, Conference Centre and Coorong Pavilion. We know it’s going to be busy so the EPIC team has laid on as many helpers as possible, but your patience would be much appreciated. As usual, Transport Canberra has regular bus routes that run past EPIC, so if you want to come on public transport, head to the WEBSITE for timetable and fare details.
OK, you’re in, so apart from over 260 stalls of designer gifts, homewares and fashion and a gourmet food hall packed with local producers and street food vans, what else can you find? Here’s a list:
The market is open on both Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 4pm. If you would like to arrive in the morning, there will be coffee and snacks available in our gourmet food hall from 9.45am so you can start the day with your caffeine fix before shopping begins at 10.
Most of our designers and producers have eftpos facilities to take payment, but there are smaller emerging designers that may not, so we recommend you bring along some cash. There are three ATMs in the two halls, so you won’t be caught short.
Where do we start? Coffee, cold drinks, snacks, meals and sweet treats are all available in our gourmet food hall in the Coorong Pavilion, along with wine and other drinks. There is also an area for refreshments in the Budawang Building. Finding the right food for you will not be a problem. Making a decision might be!
If you have come to visit particular designers, or maybe you are on a strict time limit, there is a list/map of stalls between the halls. Or seek out our friendly Handmade staff at the reception desk. For a full directory listing by category, including stall locations, check out the DIRECTORY on the website. You can also find a listing and some beautiful images in our online HANDMADE MAGAZINE, or to find out more about our amazing designers and producers, head to our blog, HANDMADE STYLE for articles and interviews.
There are several toilets in each hall, with baby changing and a breastfeeding room available. Please ask at reception (between the halls) if you’re lost.
We don’t charge you to enter the market, so please enjoy with our compliments. We’d appreciate it if you could take the time on your way in to the Handmade Market to stop by the amazing volunteers from Menslink. Please donate to this charity that supports young men in the Canberra region, and is running the Silence is Deadly campaign to encourage young men to speak up if they are finding things hard.
We hope you have a wonderful visit to Handmade, thank you for supporting Australian designers and wish you a safe and enjoyable weekend.
