Our Handmade Charities

Handmade supports local organisations that are working tirelessly to make a difference. We always have a set of door greeters, who are volunteers from a local charity, happy to take your gold coins as you enter our free market. On your way in next weekend, please give generously to Anglicare, whose local work with the elderly, youths and families who are having a hard time makes a difference in Canberra. Anglicare is proud to build stronger families, through emergency food relief, crisis housing, parenting programs, community playgroups, youth education and engagement programs. It is also making a difference – Last year Anglicare supported 7075 individuals and families with emergency food relief. Their Winter Pantry Appeal successfully collects food items each year to stock emergency food relief pantries across the region.

Anglicare will also be collecting blankets and warm clothes, so if you have any spare that you would like to donate, hand them to the wonderful volunteers on your way into the market.

Within the market, a stall has been allocated to the Newborn Intensive Care Foundation’s “Bake for Babies” cake sale. The Newborn Intensive Care Foundation (NICF) is in its 23rdyear of raising vitally needed funds for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Canberra’s Centenary Hospital for Women and Children. The NICF helps fund medical equipment, research and education for the NICU.

Bake for Babies will be selling mouth-watering handmade baked creations donated by professional Canberra bakers. All funds raised by Bake for Babies will go towards this amazing local cause.
