Next Weekend in CBR – 5 & 6 May

We’d love you to shop eat, drink, taste and enjoy Handmade for as long as you can next weekend. We are open from 10am until 4pm on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th May, so you have all day to sip bubbly in our pop up Champagne Bar, participate in a Floral Workshop by Lady Larissa, find the perfect Mothers’ Day gifts among our many stalls and treat yourself to a little something special along the way.

But when you’re exhausted from all the Handmade goodness on offer, what else might you find to do in our beautiful Autumnal nation’s capital next weekend? Here’s a rundown of the things we’d like to see, do and eat.

The National Gallery of Australia is currently showcasing some of the rare and beautiful jewellery of Cartier. With over 300 objects on display, the collection represents a history of the last 100 years, with pieces that include Kate Middleton’s wedding tiara, the Duchess of Windsor’s flamingo brooch and many examples of intricate watches. Tickets are available from Ticketek.

The Canberra Symphony Orchestra will be performing music by Australian composers at New Parliament House to celebrate 30 years of the iconic building. A free event, the celebration also includes panel discussions on the social, architectural and cultural influence of the building. The even will take place on Saturday 5th May in the afternoon.

Tom Gleeson will be bringing his particular brand of humour to The Canberra Theatre on Saturday 5th in his show entitled ‘Sure Thing’. Tickets can be booked through the Canberra Theatre Centre.

If you still aren’t full after your journey around our Gourmet Food Hall, Canberra has 31 restaurants in the The Australian Financial Review’s Top 500 Restaurants in Australia. The full list of Canberra offerings can be found at Visit Canberra. Make a booking and treat yourself to an evening of fine dining.
