NEXT WEEKEND IN CBR
You may want to simply block out next weekend so that you have maximum time to spend at the Handmade Market. On Friday evening from 5pm until 9pm, all of our stalls will be open and ready to help you with your Christmas shopping. And our bar area will be packed with local wines, beers, ciders and cocktails by the glass, so you also get to meet up with friends and socialise while you’re there. And if you haven’t completed your shopping by 9pm, you can come back on Saturday and Sunday, 10am until 4pm to finish off.
If however, your Friday night session has left you with a fully ticked off list, there are a few other things to do in Canberra over the market weekend, and here are a few suggestions.
Food local to EPIC is improving all the time and local suburb, Dickson, is a great place to spend time over an evening meal, or breakfast and lunch for that matter. New from the Cupping Room team is Highroad, a place where you can indulge in modern Australian food from morning until late. Make a reservation now for dinner once the shopping spree at Handmade is complete.
If you’re at Handmade on Sunday, make a stop at the RSPCA’s 12 Barks of Christmas once you’re done. An event including carols and activities for the whole family, including the four legged ones, you can grab a drink, have a photo taken with your pooch and sing along to the carols. Get your tickets here.
Sport in Canberra over that weekend includes the Australian National Fencing Championships at the AIS Arena. Between 8th and 12th December, you have the chance to see Australia’s best, along with a number of visiting fencers from overseas.
If you’re staying the night in Canberra, don’t forget that the wonderful Rex hotel is offering 20% off to everyone who mentions Handmade at the time of booking. Call their reservations number on 02 6248 5311 to take advantage – hurry as there may not be much availability.
Oh, and did you know that Canberra has recently been named the No. 3 city in Lonely Planet’s 2018 Best in Travel rankings? We believe this is very well-deserved and if you do nothing else (apart from come to the Handmade Market of course!) have a walk around and drink in the beauty of this stunning city.
