New Fashion at Handmade

The year has got off to a flying start and we’re almost at the end of January already. That means the March market is fast approaching (23 & 24 March), and the Handmade team is busy putting together another shopping event for you. We looked at hundreds of applications for this market and curated a broad selection of all of our categories to bring you lots of choice and lots of opportunities to pick up something unique, Australian made and artisan. We’re proud of the resulting list, which can now be found in the Handmade DIRECTORY.

Among the 270 designers and producers, we have around 40 new stall holders to present to you, all of whom can be found HERE. Several of them fall into the fashion and accessories categories, giving you plenty of variety for your Autumn wardrobe or that of the small people in your life.

Clockwise from left: Danica Moorcroft, Frankie + Roy, Alison Dominy, Cat’s Pyjamas Sleepwear Co, Annie’s Sewing Studio, Mop & Dolly.

Alison Dominy is bringing fashion for curvy figures to the market for the first time. “A place where curve is a plus”, her range in sizes 12 – 22, is flattering, elegant and perfect for office to evening dressing. Designed and made in Melbourne, this collection that celebrates all women’s bodies is ethically crafted from a range of beautiful fabrics.

Annie’s Sewing Studio also promotes ethical Australian made fashion. Annie designs, patterns, cuts and sews everything herself in the Yarra Valley, sourcing her fabrics from local Australian suppliers. Each design is produced in a limited run, so you know you are truly buying a piece of bespoke fashion.

To complement your new clothes, Danica Moorcroft has a range of silver statement jewellery. Handcrafted in Sydney, and inspired by the Australian landscape, the collection includes discs and fans with delicate texture. Why not by some earrings or a pendant for Mum, as Mother’s Day is on the horizon?

As the Autumn starts to draw in, don’t forget your sleepwear. Cat’s Pyjamas Sleepwear Co is a boutique sleepwear company making hand made pyjamas, nightdresses, robes and camisoles right here in Canberra. Featuring a range of Liberty of London fabrics, pure linen and linen cotton blends, the range includes sleepwear, loungewear and robes that are both stylish and comfortable.

For the little ones, Frankie + Roy creates on-trend yet timeless children’s clothing in sizes 1 -10. Designed and made in Melbourne, Frankie + Roy joins our Handmade stable of designers who have adopted slow fashion. The focus of this range is on high quality and proper fitting. Many mums have to buy bigger sizes to get the correct length, making them baggy in all the wrong places. Frankie + Roy clothes have smaller waistlines without compromising on length. And they look great too!

Mop & Dolly is also new to Handmade in March. With clothing and overalls, accessories and toys, the collection is designed to last and to be handed down, all made with love.

And that’s just for starters. With dozens of fashion designers, accessories innovators and children’s products, our directory is packed with designers who care about their collections and produce them right here in Australia. Head to the DIRECTORY to see them all. And we’ll see you at the Market on 23 & 24 March, 10am – 4pm, Exhibition park Canberra.
