‘bopdotz’ is a small ceramics practice in Canberra where designer and maker Sara Hogwood creates pottery for everyday use. Works thrown on the potter’s wheel have a simplicity of form and finish. They include mugs, jugs, beakers, bowls, vases and oil bottles mostly made from a lovely lightly-speckled buff-coloured clay with quiet and unassuming glazes, sometimes enhanced with simple colourful brushwork. Some pieces use a mid-fire porcelain clay because its smoothness lends itself so well to glazes with a satin finish.
As an occasional maker of silver jewellery, you’ll sometimes find a few pieces on display amongst the pottery.
