It is with great disappointment that we announce our March 21 & 22 Handmade market, as we know it, is cancelled.  The decision was made in light of the recent developments in the COVID-19 pandemic, and the government’s latest directions regarding large gatherings and events.  Public safety is our #1 priority, and as such we are happy to comply with these directions.

We’d like to thank everyone for your patience and understanding over the last couple of days as we have been in a state of limbo regarding the fate of the March market.  In our twelve year history, we’ve never cancelled a market.  As you can understand, there are a lot of moving parts, as well as logistical, administrative, and legal considerations to be made when deciding to cancel a large event such as the market.  A decision couldn’t be made until we had all the pieces of the puzzle in order.  This announcement comes as quickly as we could possibly make it.

We’ve worked so hard to bring you another amazing Handmade market and we’re disappointed that will no longer be happening.  270 stallholders were ready to share the fruits of their labour and make some much-needed income.  Many of our traders were either directly or indirectly affected by the recent bushfires and we’d hoped our March market would be an opportunity for us all to band together and show them our support by spending our money with them.  We’d hoped it would be a market where we could make a positive difference to their recovery, and it’s disappointing that it has ended up this way.

In saying that – we’re determined to keep supporting these businesses.  We know our Handmade community have huge hearts, and are as passionate about keeping Australian made, handmade businesses alive and well as we are.  And so – if we can’t have a physical market – we’ll take it virtual, baby!

We’ll have more details to come, but essentially, we’d like you – our Handmade community to get yourselves ready to “come to the market” from the comfort of your living room next weekend.

We’ll have more information that will answer any questions you may have as soon as we’re able to get it out to you.  We thank you in advance for your patience.

We’ll get through this, the market will return, our highly resilient traders will bounce back with your support.  In the meantime, everyone please stay safe and keep yourselves healthy.

Julie and the Handmade team.
