Whether you’re arriving for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks, the Handmade Market this weekend is definitely the place to taste, relax and chat. Come on Friday evening, between 5pm and 9pm and head to our bar for a glass of cool climate wine, local beer or cider. Or have a “Tea and G” cocktail, while grazing on freshly cooked popcorn. Then, try dinner from one of our street food vans. German Bratwurst, Peruvian specialities, Indonesian and Philippine cuisine and Indian curry are all on offer, so enjoy the feast before you shop, or take a potato on a stick to snack on as you walk round. Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday consists of aromatic coffee, fresh juice, French crêpes, warm doughnuts and Italian Cannoli, so your shopping spree can begin on a full stomach, and then it’s time to stock up on those seasonal essentials that will help make your Christmas meals sing.
Before you start, check out the Handmade DIRECTORY, which lists all of our stallholders by category, so you know what to put on your list. Your drinks cabinet would benefit from a good bottle of local whiskey, gin or vodka and that shelf in your fridge is crying out for some festive cider and boutique beer. With your bottles clinking, you can move onto the sauces (sweet and savoury), vinegars, oils, chutneys, honey and jams that add flavour to your cooking. Taste some delicate handmade chocolate and fudge before taking it away as a gift, and make sure you have a supply of cookies for the kids (and their teachers).
When it comes to traditional Christmas foods, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Succulent hams and cured meats, spiced chutneys and sauces and nuts take care of the savouries, while Christmas puddings and spectacular gingerbread houses will cater for the sweet side. Finally, treat yourself to some reviving tea and some sweet biscuits, cakes or marshmallows to pick you up and keep you going for the journey home. Thank you for shopping at Handmade.
