Handmade Canberra believes in supporting our community in many ways. This extends to our support of charities and not for profit organisations that are working to improve the quality of life for members of our community.
DRAGONS ABREAST DOOR CHARITY
At each of our markets we have a charity assigned as greeters at the entrances to the event. We don’t charge you to come into the Handmade Market, but we do ask you to make a gold coin donation to the door greeters as you come in. For the market this weekend, this door charity is Dragons Abreast. Dragons Abreast Australia is a national organisation comprised of breast cancer survivors (and some very special supporters) of various ages from a great variety of backgrounds, athletic abilities and interests. Dragons Abreast members provide a “face” for the breast cancer statistics whilst spreading the message of breast cancer awareness through participation in the wonderful and strenuous sport of dragon boat racing.
NEWBORN INTENSIVE CARE FOUNDATION BAKE FOR BABIES
At this market, Handmade will also be hosting the Newborn Intensive Care Foundation at a stall that will be selling professionally baked goods to support the Bake for Babies campaign. The Newborn Intensive Care Foundation is a local charity that raises money for medical equipment, research and nurse education to help give the ACT and Southern NSW’s critically ill newborn babies, the best chance to lead healthy, normal lives.
The market is on this weekend, September 16 & 17 at Exhibition Park in Canberra 10am – 4pm Saturday and Sunday. Parking & entry to the market is free. Come and shop, and support local charities at the same time.
