Helping Those in Need by Supporting the Salvation Army Blanket Drive at the Handmade Canberra Market
Handmade Canberra are pleased to partner with The Salvation Army each year for the annual Handmade Blanket Drive at their Canberra market, helping them support people suffering hardship. As the temperatures drop in Canberra, essential winter items such as blankets and warm jackets become increasingly important for those in need or experiencing homelessness. That’s where you come in!
The Handmade Canberra Winter Market acts as a collection point for donations of warm clothes, blankets, sleeping bags and new toiletries each year. These items are then given to The Salvation Army Canberra to be shared with people who need them the most. So before you head to the market this June, have a look through your cupboards and bring your items to donate. They say if you’d be happy giving one of your used items to a friend, they’re suitable for a Salvos donation. Anything you have that’s in good condition but no longer needed will be perfect.
The Salvos are solely reliant on community and corporate support and donations, and truly value each donation made. The annual blanket drive at the Handmade Market Canberra is vital in keeping vulnerable and homeless people warm during winter.
Each year we’ve succeeded in collecting more items than the last, so in 2026 we’re hoping to better our 2025 record of 809 items.
We are very proud of our Blanket Drive and thank everyone who donates to the Canberra charities we support.
