While the warm weather has so far passed Canberra by this Summer, the Handmade weekend is predicted to be warm and sunny. So, while you’re in Canberra for the biggest Handmade market of the year, why not take advantage of the warmth and spend time exploring this beautiful city?

Of course, the market is a very special place to be. We will be opening the doors at 5pm on Friday 6th for our twilight market. This is the time to meet friends, have a drink and shop in a relaxed way. We’ll be open until 9pm. Then on Saturday 7th, the doors will open at 10am for the usual weekend of shopping, tasting, chatting and buying everything you need for the festive season.

Once you’ve shopped til you’ve dropped (and then shopped some more), what else will you do? Until Friday, Parliament House will be feeling festive, with choirs and performances in the entrance hall from 11.30am until 1.30pm each day. Have a look at the Giving Tree, Parliament House’s Christmas fundraising initiative, and enjoy the festive atmosphere in this iconic building.

Take the kids to the National Museum of Australia to see an exhibition that celebrates 25 years of animation. The creators of Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon and Trolls will be showcasing rare concept drawings, models and artworks. There are also interactive displays to bring the characters from page to screen. The exhibition is open 9am – 5pm and you can get tickets HERE.

Sunset Cinema is back in Canberra. Take a picnic, enjoy bottomless popcorn and a well-stocked bar and watch your favourite blockbusters in the great outdoors. And over the Handmade weekend, Christmas favourite, Love Actually, is on! Book tickets HERE and enjoy actually.

This is a great opportunity to play at the GIO Stadium. With time slots throughout the day and evening, there are ten holes of golf to be played. Tee off from elevated platforms and hit onto the field. For novices or serious golfers, this is going to be fun. Book your session HERE.

And finally, why not head back to EPIC and indulge in some more market fun? With free parking and entry, you can revisit as many times as you like, so you don’t miss out on any of the beautiful handmade Australian products for sale. We’ll see you at the weekend.
