Design doesn’t have to be intricate and overblown. Simplicity allows a piece to stand out by itself, or that very simplicity can enhance its surroundings. Picture a silver teardrop-shape against a plain dress, or a bowl with a flecked grey finish showing off the colours of the salad within.
I’ve been making quiet, simple designs for a long time: more than twenty years as a potter, less as a jewellery maker. I’ve been taught by experienced and creative makers who have given me skills to explore my ideas, paring them back to achieve my aim of simple, well-designed, well-made pieces.
