Autumn in the Gourmet Food Hall

Handmade is not just a design market. It is also the largest indoor food market in the region, focusing on Australian grown and made produce. Our producers grow, invent, create and concoct to bring you the best in sauces, jams, chutneys, vinegars, oil, spices, fresh produce and baked goods. Packaged in stunning jars, bottles and boxes, these products will be ready for you to taste, buy and take away from the market this weekend, 23 & 24 March, 10am – 4pm. Yes, THIS WEEKEND!

Your coffee fix will be satisfied quickly with expert baristas in both halls, keeping up Canberra’s coffee connoisseur reputation. Soft drinks are oh, so tasty at Handmade. You can select from fresh pressed sugar cane, traditional lemonade, spicy ginger beer, speciality tea and non alcoholic cocktails. There really isn’t any excuse to be thirsty this weekend!

Your sweet tooth is also catered for. Choose from cookies, doughnuts, popcorn, nougat, macarons, chocolate, marshmallows and cannoli. We’ve probably missed some out, but you get the idea – Handmade is the best place this weekend for sweet treats.

Canberra’s biggest indoor street food selection will also be on offer, so you can enjoy even more time at Handmade, knowing that you won’t be hungry. With food inspired by the cuisines of many countries, there are flavours to suit all tastes, including vegetarian and vegan options, for breakfast, lunch and snacks.

If you’re looking to fill up the cellar for those shorter evenings, you can taste a number of cool climate wines and chat to the winemakers themselves. And you can sample local artisan beers, making sure of course that you take some home with you to enjoy later. The drinks cabinet is definitely not forgotten either. Spirits of all colours, strengths and descriptions will be available. And you can try the merchandise in the form of cocktails as well!

You’ll know by now that we’ve devoted a whole alley of stalls to the wonderful people from TASTE RIVERINA. With a wide range of food, drinks and information, it’s worth a trip down that aisle to see what they have to offer.

For details of all of the producers attending the market this weekend, head to our DIRECTORY. In particular, have a look at the DRINKS, FOOD and STREET FOOD categories for the full low-down. The Gourmet Food Hall is in the Coorong Pavilion at EPIC this weekend, 10am – 4pm both days. (The design halls are the Budawang Building and Parkes Room.) Entry is free and parking is free. Please give generously to our wonderful door charity, Menslink, on your way in. They are doing a great job of helping local young men and would appreciate your support. We’ll see you there.
