ATP Creative Design

Canberra is very lucky to have lots of artisans. As a creative centre, we not only have foodies rivalling the best in Australia, but also a number of innovative designers producing fashion, accessories, art and homewares. Combining these, Canberra graphic designer, Sharon Grant, has found her Handmade niche. ATP Creative Design presents a range of planners to help us manage our lives in style. Reusable with wipeable chalk pens, ATP’s planners, calendars, charts and noticeboards come in a range of genres, all with an eye on practicality. And they’re very beautiful.

We asked Sharon about her inspiration and she put it down to a love of homewares, organising, design “and an unhealthy addiction to a MacBook.” Her goal is to help busy families to plan ahead. “I particularly enjoy working on one-off designs where I can create a design that solves an organising or planning dilemma. I love creating designs that are classic and timeless that will last for years and years to come. I’m always looking for design inspiration wherever I go, and get ridiculously excited when I find a beautiful colour palette or a new font.”

A Handmade regular, ATP will be back at the market on 5 & 6 May, with its wide range of design options, all of which are attractive solutions for a busy mum and therefore a great Mothers’ Day gift. Sharon is a big fan of Handmade, saying it “has been so incredible in providing opportunities for small businesses to showcase their beautiful handmade products, for which I am extremely grateful. Speaking as a local, we are so lucky to have the Handmade Market, apart from being a great day out with family or friends, it’s wonderful to see so many people from interstate at the market and enjoying all that Canberra has to offer.”

Sharon has insider knowledge of our capital, being a Canberra girl through and through, and really loves living here. “Canberra is the perfect size, not too big and not too small, we’re surrounded by beautiful bushland and if you look, there’s always something happening to entice you to get out and about. I really enjoy our distinct four seasons and our proximity to sand and snow and big city lights.”

As the market is perfectly timed for the week before Mothers’ Day, we’ve been asking all of our featured designers and producers what they’ll be doing with their families on the day. Sharon has a double celebration as it’s her husband’s birthday as well. “In fact, I need to get organised and book a nice restaurant for a long lunch.”

Better put the date on one of those planners as it’s fast approaching! See you at the market.
