Handmade’s street food hall has something for everyone. Whether your tastes are for something sweet, savoury, European, Asian, South American or Australian, you’ll find a feast at the Handmade Market on 10 & 11 June at EPIC.
Handmade will be welcoming Yummy Thai Catering
for the first time in June. Bringing the scents and flavours of Thailand to EPIC, they will be responsible for some mouthwatering lunch options and we asked them some questions about their food.
Tell us about your business
Yummy Thai Catering has one mission: to bring the flavours of Thailand to the people of Canberra. Our menu includes many of the popular Thai dishes that people would expect to find, but also a number of healthy items of our own creation, such as our delicious Hong Kong Pies.
Opening in 2015, our inspiration comes from the streets and markets of Bangkok, where our talented chef, Suwannee Read, grew up and gained many years’ valuable experience as a caterer. We enjoy the challenge of constantly evolving and trying new ideas.
What made you apply to Handmade?
We decided to apply to Handmade because we believe it to be a highly regarded event, with excellent reviews, and it will be a great platform to showcase our food.
What’s the best thing about Canberra?
We are from Canberra (although our chef Suwannee is from Thailand she has lived here for around eight years), and agree that Canberra’s ubiquitous avenues of bush and parkland make you feel connected to nature, a rare thing in a capital city.
What’s the best way to keep warm in Winter?
The best way to keep warm in the Canberra Winter is to indulge in some nourishing, spicy comfort food – such as our curries or soups!
