Window on the Past
Bob Window is all about vintage textiles. Think souvenir tea towels, vintage blankets or kitsch curtains. Bob hand sews his found treasures into cushions, infusing them with even more character and giving them a second chance.
Each piece has a story – ask him when you visit his stall at Handmade next weekend, 10 & 11 September, 10am – 4pm. As a Handmade regular, we asked Bob our five questions:
- What is your business all about?
Bob Window used to be a clothing designer but these days he prefers channelling his sense of style into limited edition cushions made from Vintage or Handprinted fabric. All made in Sydney, all printed in Sydney – by Bob!
- What advice would you give to first time stall holders at Handmade?
Be prepared – have lots of stock, spend time on presentation and enjoy the vibe that is Handmade Canberra. Oh, and smile!
- What’s the best thing about Handmade?
It’s relaxed, it’s busy and succinctly organised! And it’s always nice (and an honour) to be in the company of like minded souls.
- What’s new for the next market?
Just more cushions! More colours, new shapes and prints. And they’re getting bigger!
- Sum up your business in THREE words.
Artisan, Hands-on, Real.
Thanks for sharing Bob. We’re looking forward to seeing what treasures you bring to Handmade next week.
