Handmade doesn’t just mean homewares, gifts, fashion and children’s items. It also means locally produced deliciousness. Pop along to Handmade this weekend to stock up your larder, treat yourself to sweets or fill yourself with lunch. Here’s what’s on offer…
STOCKING THE LARDER
Delicious, home grown, handmade larder staples will be abundant at the market. Try before you buy and stock up so you always have delicious ingredients at home. For jams and chutneys, head to Black Horse Fine Foods or for something spicier, Elfred’s of the Peninsula has a wide range. If it’s herbs and spices you need, head to the Original Smoke and Spice Co or Gourmet Morsels for unique flavour blends. Don’t forget to stock up on The World’s Best Nuts for snacks or meal ingredients and for sauces, try Smoking Brothers’ BBQ range, Saori Premium Japanese Sauce or Sticky Balsamic‘s range. And while you’re trying all of these morsels, stop in at Pialligo Estate to sample the smoked meats from their Canberra smokehouse. We dare you to walk away empty handed!
To take away or eat as you browse, there is a large selection of sweet stuff. Three chocolate producers will be on hand with their handmade chocolates. Lindsay & Edmunds will fulfil your Easter needs, while Cicada have a broad range of treats. And if you still have room, don’t walk past Jasper & Myrtle‘s Canberra-made signature Lemon Myrtle & Macademia milk chocolate with subtle flavour that will leave you wanting more. If it’s cake you’re after, try Veganarchy, A Moment on the Lips or why not take home some cookies from Babic Biscuiteers? Frugii will also be at the market with famous flavours and something new to try.
If you can’t wait any longer, we have a wide selection of options for your breakfast or lunch. East Street will be bringing an Asian flavour to the market, while Tikka Stand will be selling the flavours of India. The essence of Peru will be available at Mr Papa’s, who have a special new dish for Handmade called Lomo Saltado – with a Japanese influence. Berlin Bangers will put you in sausage heaven and Smoking Brothers‘ BBQ will be bringing the smoke. Hand reared pulled pork is the speciality of Burra Berkshires while the Kransky Brothers will be bringing corn and other surprises.
…AND TO DRINK…
Thirsty? Two Before Ten will be on hand with coffees and My Sweet Alice will bring more hot drinks, served from a vintage van. Grumpys will be selling wonderful ginger beer again, and refreshments will also be provided by Krave, whose juices and lemonades will hit the spot on this warm weekend. Before you leave, celebrate the long weekend with a glass of something delicious from either Quarry Hill Wines or Mount Majura Vineyard. Cheers!
