Jennifer Baird is the artist behind The Fifth Season, with a bright contemporary and a focus on Canberra landmarks. Returning to the Handmade Market on 10 & 11 December, we asked Jennifer three questions:
1. What is your business all about?
My business is all about affordable art. The bulk of my work is in the $50 – $200 range, which appeals to the 95% of Australians who like an original piece but don’t have a large budget. My artwork is all about colour, light and water, lots of water. I also enjoy the challenge of painting night and rainy days. Seascapes and landscapes are what I specialise in. The Fifth Season also has a wide range of lino prints depicting Canberran icons and the award winning ‘Pools of Sydney’ hand coloured lino print.
2. What made you apply to Handmade?
I applied for the Handmade Market because it is a great market and the perfect platform to show my art to collectors and art businesses. Because of the selection and curatorial aspect of a Handmade application I know that I have put my absolute best work in. The standard is so high that it is a real honour for my business to be selected.
3. What will Santa be bringing you this year?
Santa is bringing me a big sunny holiday in Queensland!
Well, enjoy Jennifer, but we’ll see you at the market in the meantime!
