The Coastal Path
Can there be anything better than growing up on the South Coast? In the summer, the lifestyle is laid back, the colours are vivid, the breeze is refreshing and the heat on your skin carries long into the evening. Winter is wild, the colours washed out, the salt heavy in the air and the wind blows away all your worries.
Lucky, lucky Emily Belle. It is no wonder that her surroundings have been the inspiration for Raw State, her natural range of scented soy candles, bath & body products and room diffusers.
Emily has always loved candles and always had lots burning at once, but was tired of the harsh chemicals so often found in mainstream brands. In 2012, she started to play with natural soy, began the alchemy of mixing natural scents herself and found that everyone wanted one. Her network of fans, from her family to her friends and beyond spread outwards and never stopped.
Emily now runs a shop in Batemans Bay and has exciting plans to open in July at the Canberra Outlet Centre. She also supplies to 13 stockists throughout New South Wales and Victoria and hosts a beautiful website for online sales.
Emily ensures her product remains Australian made and upholds its high quality standard using only the best and healthiest ingredients. Raw State candles are hand-crafted from 100% natural soy waxes, the wicks are 100% Australian cotton and the ever-changing scents as diverse as Sea Salted Caramel, Balinese White Mango and Tahitian Vanilla Bean, are all derived from the finest botanical bases.
Emily loves coming to the Handmade Markets because she draws inspiration from other people who share her passion, learning from their successes and thriving on the creative environment. She also loves chatting to her customers, who are “quirky and creative”, a quality she believes is unique to Canberra.
Her current business to watch is Body N Soap Australia. Based in Bungendore, Fiona was her first stockist and they are soon to be neighbours at the Canberra Outlet Centre. We wish her the best of luck and are sure the new store will be a huge success. Wonder if she’ll miss the beach though?
