The Apple of our Eye
Naomi Dotson is no stranger to Handmade. A regular, with her beautiful on-trend jewellery label, Appleye, she can be found presiding over excited customers trying on ring stacks and earring combinations. Appleye will again be at Handmade on 10 & 11 December and we’re sure there’ll be something there for your Christmas list. We asked her our five questions.
- What is your business all about?
Our aim is to create designs that incorporate our eco ethos, and importantly we want to create designs that are handmade, original and reflect organic form. Our designs are wearable and affordable, for every day wear. Family is also a high priority in our business model and our business operates flexibly to make sure we are making time for the important things…people.
- What advice would you give to designers coming to Handmade for the first time?
The savvy shoppers are the early birds, as some designs are limited amongst many of the very talented designers. That is what makes Handmade Markets a stand out in their selection of amazing national artists.
- What’s the best thing about Handmade?
Handmade is well known and extremely well organised. I love the friendly atmosphere and the buzz of the “hunt.” I love that the many visitors are aware of the importance and thoughtful about supporting Australian designers.
- What’s new for the Christmas Market?
We have raw gems to share with our customers, as well as some modern opal designs that we know will be a hit.
- What will Santa be bringing you this year?
A lovely selection of goodies from my favourites at handmade markets, usually always a candle. We are also planning a family caravan trip to visit some of the stockists that support our brand, and to visit new ones, so we will be getting some camping gear from Santa too 🙂
Thanks Naomi – we can’t wait to see you in December.
