Sharon Grant is in the business of keeping Canberra households organised. Through ATP Creative Design, she produces a beautiful and practical range of planners. A Handmade regular, ATP will again be at the Christmas market on 10 & 11 December, 10am – 4pm. With the new year fast approaching, now is the perfect time to organise yourself and add an ATP planner to your Christmas wish list. We asked Sharon our five designer questions:
1. What is your business all about?
ATP Creative Design is all about creating beautiful reusable products that help our customers to plan, manage & organise their busy lives. We have calendars, meal planners, weekly planners, message boards, reward charts and much more.
The business came about through a love of organising, designing and homewares. We started out making handmade gifts for friends and family members and were thrilled that our planners were soon in demand locally and internationally.
We really love hearing from how customers how our planners are used in their homes or offices. It’s really inspiring for us and is often the basis of a new design style or layout.
2. What advice would you give to designers coming to Handmade for the first time?
Be prepared! My hot tip is to check out Julie’s market stats – it’s a great overview of the event and has really useful customer demographics so you know who to cater for.
Stand out! Try something different – whether that’s adding a new product or changing your display, Handmade buyers love to find something unique.
Engage! – Locals love it when you’re welcoming and take an interest in them without feeling pressured to buy. Trust me, they’ll remember you and will be back.
3. What’s the best thing about Handmade?
The people! We absolutely love being part of Handmade, it’s such a supportive community of creatives who are genuinely happy to share experiences & offer advice. The customer base is hugely diverse and Canberra locals absolutely love the event. On top of that, the Handmade Team work tirelessly to provide an amazing experience for stallholders and customers. There’s nothing they haven’t thought of, organised or prepared for.
4. What’s new for the Christmas Market?
Each market we introduce a new design, at the last market it was a Marble themed range. At the Christmas market we’re introducing an expanded range of reusable fridge planners and fun kids’ charts.
5. What will Santa be bringing you this year?
I have absolutely no idea, however knowing me it’s likely to be something I find at Handmade while I’m grabbing a quick lunch break.
If by some chance Santa is reading this, I’d love a trip to Canada please – I promise I’ve been a good girl (most of the time)!
No excuses now – plan to be at the Christmas market on 10 & 11 December!
