Leather Luxury

Sandra Oost of Kaija designs and creates unique leather bags and purses. She personally designs and prints her own illustrations on to leather in her studio in Newcastle, then handcrafts each bag. A new designer to the Handmade Market on 10 & 11 September (10am-4pm), we asked Sandra our three questions:

1. What is your business all about?
Kaija is all about creating unique, hand crafted leather bags and accessories that are beautiful, useful and made to last a lifetime. Using both digital printing technology and traditional hand painting, floral patterns and fun colour combinations are Kaija’s trademark style. A Kaija bag will always set you apart from the crowd.
2. What made you apply to Handmade?
I like to have special events to work towards and look forward to, it helps me to get inspired and to stay focused on being the best I can be. Handmade Canberra is exactly this type of event, where the standard of other artists and designers is so high, I really need to bring my A game! I will plan for months in advance, I love thinking about how best to display my products and what new bags and accessories I can bring along.
3. Sum up your business in THREE words.
Unique, Eclectic, Artistic
Thanks for your time, Simone. We can’t wait to see your beautiful designs!
