Yesterday, we posed five questions to one of our established designers, Clockeyed. Today, we focus on a designer who is new to Handmade, Orbit Clothing. One of the best things about Handmade is that it’s always moving. We love our regulars and couldn’t do it without them, but when exciting new designers pop up among the applications, we can’t wait to tell you all about them.
Orbit Clothing is run by Lou Doherty who hails from the NSW North Coast. We asked Lou three questions:
What is your business all about?
Orbit Clothing has evolved from my passion for colour textiles and the environment. Through the use of natural fibres and a vibrant palette I have created a range of clothing to suit a diverse range of styles and tastes. Our Au Naturale range inspires classic elegant style while our bright Stripies appeal to a relaxed and easy going lifestyle and with our children’s range feeling great, full of fun and reflected in the colours of the rainbow. I am always thinking out new designs and inspired to create new colours in my dying process. Orbit is 100% Australian Made with our fabric being knitted for us, right where we can keep a close eye on its production while minimising our global footprint, something I care deeply about. Orbit Clothing has been evolving over many years and with the launch of our new website last year I feel that we have reached another level in the marketplace and am very much looking forward to trading at Handmade Canberra.
What made you apply to Handmade?
I was introduced to Handmade Canberra by my dear friend and fellow designer Harriet Jane who attended in March. She came home very excited by the event and inspired me to apply.
