Its a Wrap
What a weekend we have just had! Thank heavens it was a long weekend so that we had a chance to recover after the wonderful and very busy two days of the Handmade Market. From the moment when our designers started arriving to set up on Friday afternoon until the last of them left the building on Sunday night we were surrounded by a sea of smiling faces, beautiful handmade products, and lots of excited chatter from customers and designers alike.
The new venue continues to be a success, with record crowds attending over the weekend. We love hearing from happy customers about how they like the ease of access, the range of designers on display, and the whole atmosphere of the market now that it is held at EPIC. We added to the buzz this time round with a couple of new features to whet your appetite.
First of all did you see our new pop up room? On Saturday it was styled using home-wares from the designers attending the markets, to provide some inspiration on how pieces might fit together.
Then on Sunday the room featured designers’ products for children.
We loved seeing peoples’ reaction to the rooms, and hearing your discussion about the ideas, and are considering ways to have some ‘audience participation’ in future markets.
If you were at the Markets on Sunday you might have noticed some striking models wearing gorgeous clothes striding around the venue. This was part of a fashion shoot that featured our designers’ clothing and accessories, and we are excited about how we are going to be sharing this with you in the very near future, so stay tuned for a series of fashion posts.
Of course the very best part of the whole Handmade Market experience is bringing together our wonderful Australian designers with our customers. It was lovely to see long term designers joining us again, alongside new designers who were showing their wares to our community for the first time.
Our next market is being held on 26 and 27 September, during Floriade, and will be full of Spring designs, so put it in your diary now, because we have some exciting things planned for it.
