Handmade loves to give, especially at Christmas, and at this time of year, we are delighted to be contributing towards two charities.
The Communities @ Work yellow van will be collecting spare food from our food vans on Sunday so nothing goes to waste.
Communities@Work’s Social Programs are designed to alleviate hardship and empower disadvantaged and vulnerable people to pursue a better future by fostering independence, resilience and social connection. Their social programs provide community pantries in Gungahlin and Tuggeranong, which have 3,000 members.
Their Food Rescue program saves thousands of kilograms of food from landfill each month, instead providing food for pantries as well as charities and schools in Canberra who are also supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our community.
As usual, we will also be hosting a GIVING TREE, which we have asked our designers and stallholders to donate to. If you would like to add your gift to people who need it this Christmas, please bring it along at the weekend. We will be donating these gifts to Communities @ work so they can pass them on to people who wouldn’t otherwise receive gifts.
Bosom Buddies will be our door charity this weekend. Bosom Buddies ACT is a non-profit organisation of volunteers who provide personal support to breast cancer patients and their families and supporters in the ACT and surrounding region. Over 400 people are diagnosed every year in our region and Bosom Buddies volunteers have experienced breast cancer personally or through loved ones. They are committed to providing support to every person in our community who is going through breast cancer treatment. They raise awareness in our community about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. They also fundraise throughout the year as they do not receive funds from allied research or breast cancer or national cancer organisations, or from governments.
Your contribution to any or all of these very worthy causes would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
