Giving at Handmade
Handmade Canberra is proud supporter of the local charities that do such an amazing job in Canberra. At the Handmade Market entry is free BUT we do encourage you to support the door greeters with a gold coin donation.
The door charity for the market on March 12 & 13 is Menslink. Menslink has been supporting young men in the Canberra region for over ten years through free counselling, volunteer mentoring and schools’ programs. In that time they’ve helped thousands of young guys get through tough or lonely times and develop into responsible, productive and contributing adult men. The charity aims to help young men achieve their full potential. Please give the guys a smile and a couple of dollars on your way in.
SHARE THE DIGNITY
In order to continue the momentum that we have achieved at Shop Handmade, we are giving a stall to Share the Dignity at the March market. In the run-up to the event, we would love you to add an extra packet of sanitary items to your shopping trolleys and bring them along to the stall.
The aim of Share the Dignity is to provide homeless and at risk women nationally with sanitary products to allow them a sense of dignity at a time when they need it most. No woman should suffer the indignity of choosing between eating and buying sanitary items.
They have had an amazing response from Australian women and with your help have been able to provide domestic violence refuges and homeless shelters with substantial donations of pads and tampons. Usually these are the last items to be donated yet the firstto be taken. Momentum is building, but they need more help. They want to share the dignity and be at the forefront of all women’s minds when they shop at this time of the month.
The biggest single donation at an event has so far been 449 packets on the Gold Coast, organised by Em Rusciano. With over 27,000 visiting the Handmade Market, we believe we can smash this record and are appealing to all of Handmade’s lovely visitors to bring your donations along and help share the dignity. Thank you.
