Founded in Brisbane in 2013, Dinoplanters was originally established as an ‘orphanage’ for all the unwanted toy dinosaurs hanging around Marnie Tisot’s house. Lovingly refurbished into bright and quirky planters, they took over the house in a new way and then started inhabiting the houses of friends and family, before attacking the Brisbane market scene. Now based in Canberra, Dinoplanters make bright, quirky and very fashionable gifts. As Marnie says, “why use a boring old pot for your plant when it could be on the back of a prehistoric pet?”
This is Dinoplanters’ first visit to Handmade, and we’re expecting queues to form, so get in early, September 10 & 11, 10am – 4pm. We asked Marnie our three questions:
- What is your business all about?
We are about bringing some fun and a pop of colour to homes and businesses. We never tire of the smiles we see on people’s faces when they come across a Dinoplanter, and are constantly amazed at the effect they have in a diverse range of spaces.
- What made you apply to Handmade?
A great part of having a small handmade business is the community you can be a part of. Being new to Canberra, we wanted to be part of the Canberra handmade scene, connect with other handmade business owners and have the chance to meet some of our customers face to face.
- Sum up your business in THREE words:
bright, quirky, roarsome
Thank you for brightening up the Handmade Market – see you there!
