Burning Bright

The Little Flame Co. is one of our regular and popular stalls at the Handmade Market, who will be returning with stylish and heavenly candles on 10 & 11 December, 10am-4pm at EPIC. Pop one under the tree for a loved one and watch them smile on Christmas morning!
We asked Cheyenne Heath from The Little Flame Co. our five designer questions:
1. What is your business all about?
Premium quality handmade soy candles in beautiful scents and coloured canisters that offer you the opportunity to style your home in a way that suits your personality. Deeper than that though, we are in the business of creating moments. Be it a moment of self care and time out to relax, a moment around a candle lit table with a lover, friends or family, or the moments to create ambiance, comfort and well-being in your home or space. Scent is directly linked with memories and why not be able to revisit those times you create.
2. What advice would you give to designers coming to Handmade for the first time?
Oh, wow, enjoy every minute of it. Preparation is manic and the lead up and pressure can be immense although, the advice I was given was do what you can, you won’t be able to do it all. So take a notebook and a pen, take orders and enjoy yourself.
3. What’s the best thing about Handmade?
There is this electricity in the air from the moment you set up to pack up, its excitement and I’m sure a little bit of stress, anxiety and giddiness, but this is the environment for creatives to get together and showcase what we do best. The people are friendly, you get opportunities to know your neighbours which in the end opens horizons and creates friendships that can survive through creative journeys. You get to meet your customers and they get to meet you and chat but you also get to hear first hand how much they love your products or the experiences they’ve had with what you’ve created and there really is nothing else like it for a hand-maker, I think anyway.
4. What’s new for the Christmas Market?
We have a new Christmas Scent – “white” but also, we’ve given the Christmas collection a little shake up which I hope will be well received, it’s been fun creating it as it has been testing new scents for the season.
5. What will Santa be bringing you this year?
I’m hoping for a new white armchair for our bedroom. I’ve been using a rocking chair since my daughter’s birth in 2012 and its now time to revamp the space (where I can be found crocheting, binge-watching Netflix, or taking time out for me generally with one of my 3 children if not all at the one time) I’m very excited about it!!
We share your excitement Cheyenne, and your candles!
