Birdy & Clementine
Five weeks and counting…
It’s time to start making your lists, checking them twice and getting ready for the biggest market of the year at which all your Christmas shopping can be done in just one weekend! To help you, we’ve been chatting to some of the 250 designers you’ll find at The Handmade Market on 10 & 11 December at EPIC. With thoughts from a broad mix of new designers, established veterans and food producers, we’re hoping to inspire your gift and gourmet selections.
So, let us introduce you to Birdy & Clementine, a new designer to Handmade, hailing from the Sunshine Coast with a stunning collection of ceramic pieces, from delicate pots to wish-list jewellery. According to Robyn Stewart, owner and creative mind behind Birdy & Clementine, she uses “minimal tools and an emphasis on hand building techniques to create modern feminine ceramics – practical, with a touch of bling.”
We have asked THREE questions of our new designers and Robyn was delighted to go first:
1. What is your business all about?
It is about non production: the hands-on creating of one-of-a-kind highly decorated colourful jewellery and ceramics with the decadence of metallic lustre.
A large part of my business is my porcelain jewellery which is fantastic as it allows me to indulge in making mini pieces of wearable art. As they are all unique it means that when my customers select their chosen earrings or pendant they know that it is exclusively theirs. And so my work is done…. I want to create beautiful ceramics so that women can express their individuality. I love hearing about how one of my platters is always pulled out for celebrations or a pair of earrings are favourites.
2. What made you apply to Handmade Canberra?
Handmade Canberra is beautifully curated and has a great assortment of quality artisans showing their wares. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that? Plus Canberra is where it’s all happening isn’t it? I can’t wait to have a look around as I haven’t been to Canberra for a very very long time.
3. What will Santa be bringing you this year?
Santa will be bringing me the best present ever… family time, great food and a few dips in the pool, heaven!
We can’t wait to meet you Robyn – and thanks for chatting to us!
