While we’re all telling ourselves that we’re more than halfway through Winter, it’s still several weeks before we can properly say we’ve survived the very cold mornings. There’s nothing prettier than frost glistening on the trees, but it’s so much nicer when you’re wearing a warm and achingly beautiful coat!
Cue Planet Fab, an Australian made boutique fashion label that designs and crafts coats, vests and jackets from remnant fabrics. Each coat is individually cut to combine a range of colours, tones and textures, creating a truly unique and luxurious piece. Planet fab also ticks all the ethical boxes with 80% of their fabrics from clothing or remnants no longer required by commercial or private owners. Planet Fab attends the Handmade Markets regularly but if you can’t wait, pick up your unique design online, with prices starting at $250.
Shown in the images above is a skirt by Sheesh Handmade, $50-70. Based in Melbourne, Sheesh designs are simple and consistent and are perfect for showcasing beautiful fabrics – vintage, cotton, wool, denim, corduroy and velvet. This knee length A-line skirt is easy to wear with a wide soft stretch waist band which is comfortable and flattering for a real woman’s figure. The fabric in the base of the skirt is cut on the cross or bias which allows for more give and allows the skirt to fit a variety of body shapes, even adapting to pregnancy.
The necklace is by Six & Co, $50. Shop Handmade stocks a wide range of Six & Co necklaces, bracelets and earrings made from beautiful handmade resin, porcelain and wooden beads. Each piece is hand strung, knotted and finished by Susannah Zweep, whose main aim is to create pieces that make people feel special every day.
